1000 Artworks | 1000 Stories | One Conversation About Home

What does HOME mean to you?

A place. A memory. A feeling. A person. Safety. Belonging. Family. Hope.

Welcome to A Night of 1000 Homes, a special online art auction hosted by Urban Think Tank Empower (UTTE).

This collection brings together original artworks generously donated by artists, creatives and members of our community, each offering a unique interpretation of what HOME means to them.

Every artwork tells a story. Every bid makes a difference.

Through this auction, we invite you to celebrate creativity, discover something meaningful, and help us build more than houses. Together, we can create safer homes, stronger communities and a greater sense of belonging for families living in South Africa’s informal settlements.

A FEW AUCTION RULES

* The highest valid bid received before the auction closes will secure the artwork.
* Successful bidders will be contacted after the auction closes to arrange payment and collection or delivery.
* Full payment is required following confirmation of the winning bid.
* Any shipping or delivery costs will be charged separately and calculated according to the destination and chosen delivery method.
* Artworks will only be released once payment has been received in full.
* Urban Think Tank Empower reserves the right to verify bids and, where necessary, reject bids that do not comply with the auction rules.
* By placing a bid, you agree to these auction terms and conditions.

ART THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Every artwork in this collection has been donated in support of UTTE’s mission to transform informal settlements into safer, more dignified and sustainable communities.

All proceeds from this auction will support Urban Think Tank Empower and its community-led initiatives.

Whether you’re an art collector, a first-time bidder, or simply someone who believes that everyone deserves a place to call home, your participation matters.

Bid generously. Bid with purpose. And help us turn 1000 stories of home into the possibility of a better future.

Happy bidding! 💛

NOT BIDDING? YOU CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If you don’t find an artwork to take home, you can still support our mission by making a direct donation to Urban Think Tank Empower.
